BBC Radio 4 has gone all retro on us for six months over the spring and summer.
I suspect, actually, it's just as much to do with the age of the programme controllers than 1968 being a pivotal year.
But, to be fair, it certainly was an interesting time. Being born in 1975 I missed out on all the happenings of this decade by a long way, but it's hard not to be drawn into the excitement of the music and politics of this era.
I'm a big fan of historian Mark Kurlansky, but I found his book 1968: The Year That Rocked the World a rather sedate affair: I don't think he bought anything new to the table, although I would recommend it for those who are looking for an introductory guide to '68.
