Set up by Dr. Janelle Jenstad, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Victoria, this site is still in its infancy.
Users are presented with a map of London dating from the late sixteenth century and the early seventeenth century, and are the invited to roam around London with the aid of a mouse and to pick particular streets where there is, at certain points, an historic essay to read.
It is also possible to navigate the site using the index which lists the contents as streets, churches, sites, wards and people.
There still a lot of blank spaces on the map where there could be historical essays, but, for instance, it has items on Birchin Lane, Maiden Lane, Bread Street Hill and Baynard's Castle.
There are currently plans to build together a editorial team to enable 'scholarly credibility' to the project and there is a statement that, in the meantime, it is not advisable to cite the work in academic items.
